Day Visitor Policy

All visitors who will be in the vicinity of or interact with students are required to read and sign the TIPS Day Visitor Code of Conduct as part of our safeguarding procedures.

For the purposes of this document, the TIPS campus includes our school building and any other locations where TIPS staff conduct activities, including, but not limited to, athletic facilities, auditoriums, and ceremony venues.

Volunteers: Thank you for contributing your time to TIPS. Please read and sign this document.

I will:

Treat everyone with respect, patience, integrity, courtesy, dignity, and consideration.
Maintain appropriate physical boundaries at all times and touch students only when necessary, and only in ways that are appropriate, public, and non-sexual.
Remain only in the areas necessary for my visit or work.
Follow the instructions of the TIPS staff member who organized my visit regarding where I may go and at what times.
Wear my visitor badge where it can be clearly seen.
Use only the restrooms designated for visitors.
Move promptly through corridors and student areas without unnecessary contact with students.
Immediately report any concerns about a student’s safety or well-being to my TIPS contact person or the school office, without attempting to investigate the matter myself.

I will not:

Touch or speak to a student in a sexual or otherwise inappropriate manner.
Single out students for special treatment, attention, or favoritism, including giving gifts or providing food or drinks.
Be alone or out of sight with an individual student, including behind a closed glass door.
Communicate with students outside the professional or volunteer relationship established by my visit, such as that of a coach or host.
Make jokes or tease students in ways that could be misunderstood, are suggestive, or could make a student feel uncomfortable.
Take photographs or videos in which a student is recognizable, unless permission has been granted for a relevant event.

Violations of this policy may result in serious consequences, including the revocation of visitor privileges.

By following the points above, you are helping to protect yourself, students, and the school from allegations of improper behavior. It is always the adult’s responsibility to establish and respect appropriate boundaries.
