Attendance and Promotion

  1. Attendance requirements in afternoon complementary courses, because they are largely based on participation, are enforced. A student must attend such a course 60% of the number of times the course is held in order to receive credit for the complementary course. If a student misses 60% or more of their complementary course dates, the student will receive a “NG” for No Grade on their report card and will not receive credit for the class.
  2. TIPS understands one grade level prepares a student for the next grade level. TIPS specializes in learning support and provides accommodations based on recommendations. However, in our elementary and middle school grades, grades 4 - 8, if a student does not receive passing marks for two of the four academic classes, the student will not be promoted to the next grade and will be re-enrolled in the same grade. Alternatively, the student may be considered for the Certificate of Completion program, with a modified curriculum which culminates at the end of grade 12 with a certificate of Completion instead of a high school diploma.
