On Friday, September 24th, Mr. Brock and Ms. Batnini took nine students on a guided bike tour from Sasazuka all the way to Shimokitazawa and back. Students were assigned a bicycle and helmet at the Freewheeling Japan shop. After a safety talk, the group was on their way with Mr. Brad Bennet in the lead, teachers, students and another guide in the rear of the line.
The tour was held on the quiet back streets of Tokyo and there were many sights to see that included parks, unusual architecture and a stop at the famous Gotokuji Temple. This is the temple where the iconic Maneki Neko (beckoning cat) comes from and students loaded up in the gift shop.
The next leg brought the tour to the illustrious Shimokitazawa neighborhood where the tour group was treated to a traditional gyoza lunch, followed by some ice cream.
After lunch, the tour returned to Sasazuka and curious students got to try out a tandem bicycle for the first time. The burning question most frequently asked at the end of the day? "When can we do this again?”
